Try to find a seamstress that works from home. I work with a woman who does this and is fantastic at it. She gets so much business from word of mouth that she finally had to stop and only do for family and friends and she doesn’t even charge them! Anyway, I bet you can find someone sort of like this, that does it on the side or just out of her house. You know you’ll get some extra TLC with your dress.
This is a good time for Clearance Sales, and since you are getting married in the fall, there should be plenty as they prepare for the Spring dressed to arrive. Also, there are so many clothing resale shops now, and they have beautiful dresses. You have time, so shop till you are sure you found the perfect dress!!

I went to the local bridal stores and asked them for sale dresses in my size. the lady was really helpful and got all the dresses under $500 in my size for me to try one. I picked the second one I put on and that was it. I paid $499 with tax and everything and that included having it cleaned and steamed right before the wedding. it was a great deal and the most beautiful dress ever! usually they go on sale because that exact style is being discontinued, but they still look the exact same as the ones still being sold full price. good luck to you

I will list a couple of sites that can help, basically if you can make it yourself I recommend it. For dresses try the links or ebay it.
You can go to thrift stores, or jcpenney outlet they sometimes have really nice ones.
You may look to see if your mom/mother in law still has her dress. And then alter it for fit and style. You may want to try a second hand store. Or look for sales. Good luck! And you can even go to a smaller non chain botique and see if they have any dresses for cheap that you like. I guess you could even try ebay, just make sure the measurements match yours, or are bigger, so it can be altered. Good luck.
Depends on your taste: You can walk into David’s Bridal (national chain) and find almost any style and wait for it to come on sale. Or… if you are really a sucker for details, try to find a picture of the dress you want (no matter what the price) in as many angles as you can find and find a good seamstress. Many people have been able to wear their dream dress this way.
Other options include vintage stores, Goodwill, etc. Don’t be perturbed by this… most of these dresses have only been worn once. Drop ‘em at the dry cleaners, tailor if necessary, and you’re done!

I actually got my wedding dress from Jessica McClintock…but it was really a bridesmaid dress that was in cream. Very inexspensive, $190 and so beautiful!!! No one could ever tell it was not a bridal gown.
i would try stores that sell evening gowns. i don’t know where you are from, but here (in mass) I went to 2 stores, Bojangles and Port Cargo…they had really elegant beautiful wedding dresses for like $300- Plus they were normal dress sizes so you don’t need much, if any altering. I guess it depends what style you like.
Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo has dresses that are affordable. Davids bridal usually has a $99 sale.Also, some department stores have a bridal section that sells dresses that can be used for destination weddings. Another option is to get an informal wedding dress.There is a huge difference in the price.

I got a very simple but elegant wedding dress from jcrew.com for about $300. They also have petite and large sizes, as well as coordinating bridesmaids dresses. The great thing about these dresses is that they can be used again – for future black tie or other formal events.
